Jamie Lord June 2011

I am very happy to announce a program change for our June 13th 2011 meeting. Our guest speaker will be Jamie Lord, Director of Government Affairs for the Center for an Educated Georgia at Georgia Family Council. Her responsibilities at the Center include policy research, draft legislation, and working with lawmakers and lobbying for bills that strengthen family relationships. She was the lead lobbyist in the effort to bring school vouchers to the state, with the passage of the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship in 2007. In 2008, she served as the lead lobbyist responsible for the passage of the Tax Credit Scholarship Program and worked as part of a team of lobbyists to create the Georgia Charter Schools Commission (recently struck down by the State Supreme Court. Jamie promises to spend some time on this issue). She has been a speaker for national organizations, including the Heritage Foundation and the Alliance for School Choice on the issues of school choice and educational freedom. Jamie also consults with other organizations within the state and nationally, including the American Federation of Children
